David J. “Huck” Greer, 58, Denver, Indiana, passed away at 1:53 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, on his family farm north of Denver, where he had lived his entire life.
Born December 1, 1959, Peru, Indiana, he was the son of Vaughn Edward and Florence Evelyn Murphy Greer. On July 5, 1980, at the Denver Baptist Church, he was married to the former Dolores J. Leslie, and she survives.
He was a member of the Denver Baptist Church and Quail Forever. He had worked for the Miami County Highway Department as part of the bridge crew, and for Small Parts, Logansport, where he was a tool maker. He enjoyed being outdoors, farming, mowing his yard, trap shooting, and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Dee Greer, Denver; two daughters, Leslie (Chris) Hendrix, Mexico; and Lisa (Matthew) Turnpaugh, Macy; one granddaughter, Evelyn Hendrix, Mexico; and one step granddaughter, Baleigh Hendrix, Denver; four siblings, Dennis Greer, Denver; Rita (Russ) Seela, Missouri; Larry (Susan) Greer, Lafayette; and Steve (Lorene) Greer, Denver. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Russell and Martha Leslie; daughter, Laura Ann Greer, sister-in-law, Jo Ann Carrothers; and brothers-in-law, Joe Sonafrank and Art Leslie.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2018, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Dr. Mark Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 2-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral home.
