Jerry Sarver Obituary

Jerry L Sarver, 77, Peru, Indiana, passed away at 4:10 a.m., Sunday, May 27, 2018, at Blair Ridge Health Campus, Peru.

Born May 31, 1940, in Peru, Indiana, Jerry was the son of Ralph R. and Mildred Arlene Friend Sarver.  On August 31, 1958, at the First Baptist Church, Denver, Indiana, he was married to the former Nancy Baber, and she survives.

Jerry was a lifelong resident of Miami County and was the owner-operator of Midland Lumber Company in Peru since 1969. His love for his business spurred him to join the Midwest Building Suppliers Association, an organization in which he was active for many years.

Jerry was proud of his business and loved his customers and the greater Miami County community, evident in his involvement with the Miami County Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Denver for over 50 years. He was also active in the community for several years with the Denver Lions Club. Jerry actively collected many different types of antiques and was especially fond of tractors and farm equipment. He was a proud member of both the Pioneer Power of the Past Tractor Club and the Indiana Garden Tractor Puller Association, a love which he shared with his family. He and Nancy enjoyed hosting many community and family events on their farm, Putt Putt Acres, which for many years included the annual New Year’s Day corned beef and cabbage dinner, class reunions, and church services. Over the years, he had many dogs that were beloved companions.

Survivors include his wife Nancy Sarver, Peru; two daughters, Barbara (Ronnie) Krisher, Denver; Sandi (Scott) Hoffman, Indianapolis; one son David (Shelly) Sarver, Denver; four grandchildren, Teri Krisher (Andy) Ammerman, Peru; Ayrton (Gina) Arwood, Suffolk, Virginia; Addison Sarver, Denver; and Aiden Sarver, Denver; and four great–grandchildren, Connor and Jack Ammerman, and Avrey and Myles Arwood. Jerry is also survived by one brother Ralph “Ed” (Valerie) Sarver, Peru.
