Rachel L. McGuire

Rachel L. McGuire, 95, formerly of Denver, Indiana, passed away at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, 2018, at Blair Ridge Health Campus, Peru, Indiana. 

Born November 30, 1922, in Denver, Indiana, she was the daughter Edward E. and Flora E. Delp Benedict.  She was married on April 25, 1942, to Lyman E. “Beezer” McGuire, and they were proud to reach the milestone of seventy-five years of marriage.  He passed away on January 17, 2018.

Rachel was a member of the Denver Baptist Church, Denver, Indiana, and retired from Wabash Valley Bank and Trust.  She was a dedicated homemaker, always caring for her family.

She is survived by her five children, Karen (Bob) Kindig, Rochester Hills, MI; Dan (Bev) McGuire, Springfield, Ohio; Linda (Steve) White, Hilton Head Island, SC; Ed (Patricia) McGuire, Mexico, IN; and Jeff (Lisa) McGuire, Charlotte, NC; thirteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and one sister-in-law, Joan Shoemaker, Denver, IN.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Major Robert D. Benedict, Frank Benedict, and William A. Benedict; and four sisters, Glady Rody, Helen Sarver, Edna Meeker, and Betty Lowe. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Dr. Mark Spencer officiating.  Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver, Indiana.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home.
