Elaine Combs Thomas, 69, Peru, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at her residence.
Born November 26, 1950, in Peru, Indiana, she was the daughter of Amos Combs and the former Geneva June Noble. On June 20, 1970, at the Peru First Brethren Church, she was married to Rev. James Lowell Thomas, and he preceded her in death on August 19, 2010.
She was a pastor’s wife for many years and served with her husband at The First Brethren in Falls City, Nebraska, Peru First Brethren, Loree Brethren, and Eagle’s Nest Christian Fellowship at Grissom. She loved listening to music, reading, and spending time with family.
Survivors include her mother, Geneva June Combs Cassels and her husband Lester "Pops" Cassels, Peru; two children, Aaron Elijah (Lorrie) Thomas, Florida; and Amanda Elaine (Anthony) Brunnemer, Peru; eight grandchildren, Zachary (Kristin), Xavier, Olivia, Alexis, Austin, Thalia, Jayden, and Jakob; two great-grandchildren, Ivy and Lennon; and several step-grandchildren, Kayla, Josiah, Matthew, Noah, Connor, and Rebekah; two siblings, Debbie (Brooke) Balsbaugh and Jeff (Lanette) Combs, all of Peru; five step-siblings, Rebecca (Dean) Dawn, Valerie Williams, Cindy (Joe) Winter, Howard (Bobbie) Fulton, Mark (Linda) Cassels. Also surviving is a special cousin, Jerri Bunker, Peru; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, husband, and one step brother-in-law, James Williams.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at Bunker Hill Free Will Baptist Church, 279 W Broadway, Bunker Hill, IN.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.
